Voices for Children held its 27th annual Fostering Hope Golf Classic at the Santaluz Club. The two-day event raised more than $250,000 in support of VFC’s Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program, which ensures that foster children throughout San Diego County receive one-on-one advocacy. Guests enjoyed a cocktail party, live auction, and 18-hole tournament. The fundraising event was co-chaired by Dale Yahnke, Bill Sailer, and Rolf Benirschke. Dave Koravos, Ian Phillips, VFC Interim CEO David Bialis, and Thomas Monson won the first-place trophy at the golf tournament.

Farmers Insurance, the Century Club of San Diego, and local first responders attended a breakfast ceremony at Station 45 where the San Diego Fire Rescue and San Diego Police Foundations were each presented with a $25,000 check. The nonprofit organizations provide vital resources as well as safety and other programs to the community.

The $50,000 came from various fundraising programs at the Farmers Insurance Open, held at Torrey Pines Golf Course. For example, each time a professional golfer hit a birdie at the fourteenth hole, Farmers donated to the Foundations. Proceeds from ticket sales to the Farmers Cares Club, an on-site hospitality venue, also contributed to the funds.
