A sold-out La Jolla Music Society SummerFest Gala raised approximately $360,000 for LJMS’s artistic and education outreach programs. More than 12,000 kids will score, as one of LJMS’s missions is to make performing arts a part of every students curriculum. The event was held at UC San Diego’s Audrey Geisel University House and the concert featured musicians such as SummerFest Music Director Cho-Liang Lin and Martin Beaver, both on violin, performing Rossini and Schubert selections.

The annual 211 Club Patron Recognition Party honored the supporters of the Seacrest Foundation. The celebration took place at the Solana Beach home of Pamplemousse Grille Executive Chef Jeffrey Strauss, and his wife Mayo. Catering was also courtesy of Pamplemousse Grill. The Seacrest Foundation is a not-for-profit public benefit corporation that supports Seacrest Village Retirement Communities and Seacrest at Home. Both are dedicated to the health and well-being of our increasingly vulnerable and growing senior population.

The American Academy of Pediatrics and Traveling Stories each received $25,000 in grants from The San Diego Women’s Foundation and San Diego Social Venture Partners (SDSVP). The grants will help these local nonprofits as they further early childhood education efforts in San Diego County. Both grantees will receive mentorship and guidance from SDSVP for the next two years.
