San Diego Filipino Film Festival 2023

The San Diego Filipino Film Festival returns to theaters around San Diego this week with screenings being held at The LOT Liberty Station, Southwestern College and AMC Plaza Bonita 14. The 3rd annual edition of the festival hopes to continue its mission of showcasing diverse stories and empowering Filipino filmmakers during Filipino American History Month. Attendees can buy general admission tickets for individual films, day festival passes, or the all-inclusive fest pass ($157 for San Diego Filipino Cinema members, $197 for non-members) which grants access to all narrative and documentary features, shorts, and special events throughout the six-day festival.

San Diego Italian Film Festival

The Museum of Photographic Arts will host the 17th annual San Diego Italian Film Festival with a lineup of eight in-person feature films and 13 visual short film screenings revolving around Italian culture, community, and heritage. The festival’s premier event is the 2023 feSta on October 14 where guests will enjoy food and wine from local Italian restaurants and be in the audience for the Ristretto Short Film Award Ceremony, marking the end of the festival. Entry is free to this 21+ festival in Downtown La Jolla as more than 160 artists from the U.S. and Mexico specializing in painting, sculpture, photography and more will get to show off their work from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday. In addition to art, there will be a wine and beer garden where attendees can purchase five or 10 tastings from 35+ wineries, breweries and craft distilleries in attendance and enjoy a lineup of local musicians rocking the stage throughout the weekend.
