Jackson Design and Remodeling celebrated its 25th anniversary with a Spicy Salsa Soiree at the San Diego Yacht Club. The lively crowd sipped Mojitos, savored Cuban-inspired food, and delighted in salsa performances and lessons, along with the music of the Manny Cepeda Orchestra. Clients ended the beautiful evening by taking home a commemorative bottle of JDR 25th Anniversary Reserve wine.

Nearly 400 supporters of Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego gathered for the annual ROMP fundraiser, this year a circus-themed night complete with a tent, ringmaster, and fortune tellers. Event chair Jennifer Gramins and honorary chairs Rebecca and Jennifer Moores made the evening a success with dinner, cocktails, celebrity entertainment, and live and silent auctions, raising $620,000 for families in medical crisis. Some of the standout auction items included a private jet excursion to Napa for six, a Kona beachfront vacation for 30, and a brand-new 2015 Audi A3.

More than 730 guests attended the inaugural gala for The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego, An Evening of Changing Lives. With the help of attendees and 84 event partners, the gala raised over $1 million. Boys & Girls Club alumni and Grammy Award winners Kool & The Gang provided an energetic concert to conclude the night.

Monte Carlo Jet Set

The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego presented its 38th annual fundraiser, Monte Carlo Jet Set. Event chairs John and Natasha Ippolito based the jet-setting theme on their travels and arts experiences around the globe, emulating celebrations from the world’s most iconic cities and highlighting their unique offerings. The After-Party, an event unto itself, had guests indulging in Champagne and dessert in “Paris,” cigars and Macallan Scotch in “South Beach,” rolling the dice in “Monte Carlo,” sipping Suja cocktails in “Brazil,” and much more. Proceeds support MCASD’s education programs and exhibitions.

Opus Gala

The San Diego Symphony’s “Come Fly with Me” Rat Pack era–themed event celebrated the Greatest Generation while featuring some of the world’s most influential composers, such as Bernstein, Bizet, and Rachmaninoff. The evening began with an exclusive cocktail hour under the sky, followed by an exquisite dinner at the University Club. Afterward, guests enjoyed a performance featuring the San Diego Symphony and legendary pianist Lola Astanova at the Jacobs Music Center. The night culminated with a stirring party at the University Club that featured live music, dancing, hors d’oeuvres, open bar, and much more.

2014 Latinos Making A Difference Awards

Three hundred of San Diego’s top Latino business leaders gathered at The University Club Atop Symphony Towers to honor the recipients of this year’s Latinos Making a Difference Awards. Guests enjoyed a cooking demonstration and tasting by Chef Miguel Angel Guerrero, founder of La Querencia Baja Med. The emcee for the evening was Dr. Diane Perez, host of Despierta San Diego on Univision. Six outstanding Latino leaders were named and all seventy-seven finalists were celebrated for their accomplishments.

Rock the Cure

More than 450 guests rocked out with Foreigner at the seventh annual Rock the Cure outdoor concert, held at the home of Lisa and Steve Altman, the former vice chairman of Qualcomm. Local celebrities in attendance included the Chargers’ Manti Te’o, Jake Byrne, and Jerry Attaochu. Guests enjoyed a variety of appetizers from some of San Diego’s top restaurants while raising $850,000 for Type 1 diabetes research at the Pediatric Diabetes Research Center at UCSD.

Change Their Lives Gala

More than 500 people attended the South Bay Community Services’ “Endless Summer”-themed 16th annual Change Their Lives gala. County Supervisor Greg Cox, Chula Vista Mayor Cheryl Cox, and National City Mayor Ron Morrison chaired the event. More than $315,000 was raised in support of Mi Escuelita, a therapeutic preschool for children, and Trolley Trestle, a program for foster care youth.
