There’s nothing subtle about Lucha Libre, the North Park and Mission Hills taqueria named after the theatrical brand of Mexican wrestling. Walls are bathed in pink, luchador wrestling masks act as decor, neon lights flash, and a disco ball makes the entire place feel like a fiesta. The same goes for their menu.

During their short breakfast window (10–11 a.m. daily) their Washington Street outpost serves a breakfast queso taco that’s the ultimate wake-up call. Under two corn tortillas is a layer of crispy grilled cheese topped with potatoes, scrambled eggs, chorizo, a generous slice of avocado, and their “super secret” chipotle sauce. It’s hefty—we prefer it with just one tortilla—and a powerhouse of a meal. A luchador wouldn’t have it any other way.
