San Diego Magazine’s Annual Celebrating Women Awards are back, new, and improved! It’s time to celebrate San Diegans who are guiding the community towards a brighter future.
We will now be honoring one Pioneer and one Rising Star in 15 categories that represent the diverse span of industries that make up our beautiful city.

A panel of 4-5, unbiased, San Diego Magazine-affiliated female judges will review all nominations and select one (1) Pioneer of the Year and one (1) Rising Star of the Year. Separately, we will honor one Pioneer and one Rising Star in each of the 15 individual categories. Those winners will be determined by the public in a voting period set forth by the magazine. All nominations that adhere to the nomination form rules + criteria will be featured on our website for people’s choice voting to decide who should be selected as the Pioneer and Rising Star in each individual category.
People’s choice winners AND San Diego Magazine’s Pioneer and Rising Star of the Year will be announced at our annual Celebrating Women Summit on November 6, 2024 held at UC San Diego’s Park & Market and presented by Rancho La Puerta.
The San Diego Magazine Pioneer of the Year and Rising Star of the Year will be chosen from the full pool of nominations. Please scroll down to the bottom of the page for the nomination entry form.
Pioneer vs. Rising Star
Pioneer
An individual that has and continues to carve a path to a brighter future. This is someone who is regarded as an expert in their industry and may be seen as a mentor.
Rising Star
An individual that is regarded as an up-and-comer in their industry. Someone who is actively trailblazing their way to a brighter future and setting the stage for those to follow.
