The San Diego History Center and San Diego Magazine have teamed up for a series of “Throwback Thursday” themed happy hours at the San Diego History Center starting May 7, 2015. What to expect? A 21 & up centennial themed happy hour celebration and lecture in Balboa Park. Guests will learn various aspects of the 1915 Panama-Canal Exposition, while sipping cocktails and enjoying light bites. Take a peek at Vintage cars, watch reenactors dressed up in period costume, play games, and so much more!

The educational portion of the event will include a lecture from noted historian, Dr. Iris Engstrand, and curator of the current History Center exhibition San Diego Invites the World, the exhibit showcasing the 1915 Panama-California Exposition prompted the building of Balboa Park and put San Diego on the world map. Attendees will also receive free admission access to the History Center’s two Exposition-oriented exhibitions: Masterworks: Art of the Exposition Era and San Diego Invites the World.
