The San Diego Museum of Art has unveiled its largest exhibition to date with The Art of Music—a multisensory event exploring how the two creative platforms intersect. The collection of more than 200 paintings, sculptures, and photos is divided into three sections: the musician as a symbol, the social function of music, and abstract representations, like “Person with Guitar” (above) by San Diego–born John Baldessari. Other must-sees include works by Picasso, Dalí, and Beethoven, whose original Symphony No. 9 manuscript is on display. To tickle other senses, the SDMA will also continue its yearlong concert series with performances every third Thursday of the month. Now that’s music to our ears.
Through February 7, 2016, at the San Diego Museum of Art, Balboa Park
