For most of his adult life, Scripps internal medicine physician Robert Elliott, DO, had been a desert dweller. His medical training, residency, and master’s program were split between Arizona and Palm Springs. But he fondly remembered his time during a study abroad program in Queensland, Australia, where he picked surfing. In 2021, Dr. Elliott moved to San Diego and is now embracing the Southern California lifestyle, surfing and all. Dr. Elliott works as a primary care provider at Scripps Coastal Medical Center, Hillcrest, and says that the lessons he’s learned, like patience and resilience, have influenced the way he practices medicine and help him better connect with his patients.
