Sammy’s Restaurant & Bar and Roppongi Asian Bistro Open in Imperial Beach
Sammy’s Restaurant and Bar has expanded into yet another San Diego neighborhood, this time Imperial Beach. “When we were presented with the opportunity, we did our due diligence. We spent time down in Imperial Beach and found that this is a community we want to be a part of- as all our other restaurants that have thrived have done so by relying on the neighborhood. Also, the hotel did an excellent job of remodeling the restaurant space there and was open to our idea of bringing in two restaurants, not just one, to give our guests more options” says Sami Ladeki, owner of Sammy’s Wood-fired Pizza.
While the restaurants pride themselves on their quality service and consistent food with quality ingredients, the real draw here is the amazing view. The location is steps away from the ocean, with a sand-front patio that simply doesn’t exist elsewhere in San Diego.

Sammy’s Restaurant and Bar is open daily from 7am to 9pm. They start out with a breakfast menu served until 11am featuring many delicious options like Chilaquiles, the Denver-ish Scramble and French Toast or Pancakes with different fruit options. Lunch and Dinner is served from 11am to 9pm featuring Sammy’s menu with the fan-favorites Grilled Balsamic Chicken Salad, Mini Duck Tacos, Chicken Tequila Fettucine and the pizzas that made them famous. And don’t forget about the Messy Sundae!

Sammy’s has deep roots in San Diego, opening the first location in La Jolla in 1989. They have expanded to many different communities throughout the county and beyond over the last 36 years and have locations in La Jolla, San Marcos, Scripps Ranch, Chula Vista, Sacramento, Las Vegas and now Imperial Beach. “We love to be part of strong communities that truly care about their neighborhood and take pride in giving back to that community through many philanthropic events and donations” Ladeki said.
Sammy’s is a welcome addition to Imperial Beach with its family-friendly atmosphere and dynamite Happy Hour. Happy Hour is daily from 3pm-6pm with 50% off many food items as well as drink specials. Sammy’s strives to be a restaurant for every season and every reason.
Roppongi Asian Bistro is also open inside the Pier South hotel and serves dinner daily from 5pm to 10pm. This restaurant has been brought back by popular demand as it was a La Jolla staple for almost 20 years, winning numerous accolades for its creativity and depth of menu as well as the overall ambience. The restaurant will be opening a location in La Jolla in its original space later this summer.

The menu features a variety of Asian Tapas, Handmade Dumplings, Wok dishes, Entrees, Sushi and Desserts. The favorites returning are the Polynesian Crab Stack, Mongolian Shrimp, Kahlua Pork Spring Rolls, and the Tahitian Bananas for dessert. New items to the menu include Coconut Curry Noodles with Chicken and Shrimp, Duck Fried Rice and the Crying Tiger Steak.
Both restaurants are complimented by a creative cocktail list, with Sammy’s offering many breakfast-centric libations to compliment the brunch time and Roppongi featuring some Asian-inspired craft cocktails. Roppongi also has an extensive wine and sake list. The bar for both restaurants is open daily from 7am to 10pm. Sammy’s and Roppongi are sure to be the new go-to for Imperial Beach locals and visitors.
