About the Role
The Content Coordinator supports the execution, organization, and publishing of content across San Diego Magazine and Here We Are Studio. This role focuses on content operations and execution.
The Content Coordinator ensures that stories, assets, and campaigns move smoothly from idea to publication—accurately, on time, and optimized according to established strategy. This is an entry-level role ideal for someone who thrives on systems, details, and making creative teams more effective.
Reports to: Director of Creative Projects | Location: San Diego | Type: Full-time, Entry Level | Pay: $20/hour
Key Responsibilities
Content & Editorial Execution
- Upload, format, and publish print and digital articles to the website, including headlines, subheads, captions, tags, and images
- Assist with basic copy drafting and light editing for web articles, newsletters, social posts, and marketing materials
- Proofread content for clarity, accuracy, grammar, and brand voice
- Support editors and producers with research, fact-checking, and content prep
Digital Publishing & SEO (Execution-Focused)
- Apply on-page SEO best practices during publishing (meta descriptions, keywords, internal links, alt text) based on strategy and priorities
- Maintain clean, accurate workflows in the CMS (WordPress or similar)
- Assist with updating evergreen content and correcting published content as needed
Social Media Trafficking
- Schedule and traffic content across social media platforms using established calendars and tools
- Adapt existing content into social-friendly formats (headlines, captions, teasers)
- Ensure accuracy of links, visuals, and metadata prior to publishing
Coordination & Content Operations
- Coordinate logistics with photographers, freelancers, and contributors
- Track assignments, deadlines, contracts, and deliverables
- Maintain organized digital files, contact lists, and production documentation
- Help manage editorial and studio content calendars
Studio Support
- Support Here We Are Studios with content-related administrative needs
- Assist producers and project managers with organizing assets and deliverables
- Serve as a reliable execution partner across editorial, studio, and marketing teams
Collaboration & Workflow
- Execute publishing, scheduling, and distribution plans
- Flag missing assets, execution gaps, or workflow issues early
- Maintain documentation so performance tracking and reporting are accurate
A Day in the Life
- Uploading and formatting a feature from the print issue for the website
- Scheduling social posts tied to editorial and studio projects
- Drafting short web or social copy based on existing content
- Coordinating image delivery with a photographer
- Updating content calendars and tracking sheets
- Proofreading a newsletter before send
- Organizing assets for a studio client project

Qualifications
- 0–2 years of experience in media, marketing, publishing, or communications
- Strong writing and proofreading skills
- Comfort with CMS platforms or eagerness to learn
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Clear communication skills
