Vy Yamat and her husband, Anthony, were already the parents of two little boys when they decided it was time to try for a third child to complete their family. Little did they know that one decision would signal the start of Vy’s two-year battle with cervical cancer and a fight for her fertility. Vy was first told she’d need a hysterectomy, then sought a second opinion at Scripps MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her oncologist Jo Marie Tran Janco, MD, treated her cancer and preserved her fertility, allowing her to conceive a baby girl. Vy was so moved by the compassionate care she received from Dr. Janco, she named the baby after her. Click here to read more about Vy and her miracle baby.
