The San Diego Museum of Art kicked off its quarterly Culture & Cocktails series with “Havana Nights,” inspired by the SDMA Board of Trustees’ recent trip to Cuba. The event showcased two new Cuban contemporary art pieces acquired from artists Pedro Pablo and Sandra Ramos. Fedoras, ruffles, and island-inspired apparel flooded the museum’s rotunda to celebrate all kinds of Havana-themed delights, including Old Havana dark rum cocktails, cigar rolling, fruit hat and fedora crafting, and a graffiti photo booth. More than 2,000 guests danced to DJ Mike Zee’s salsa selections and a performance by Besos de Coco at Panama 66.
