Sin City is constantly revamping itself, so there’s always something shiny and new in this desert oasis. The landmark Venetian Resort recently hit the culinary jackpot with a new restaurant from celebrity chef David Chang. Majordōmo Meat & Fish shows off the chef’s talents with dishes made popular at his LA restaurant of the same name: prime rib smoked for 24 hours and cut tableside, short rib served with ssamjang (Korean red pepper dipping sauce) and bibb lettuce.

The hotel also opened Mott 32, which serves dim sum like soup dumplings made with Iberian pork in a glitzy dining room. You can easily eat your way around the resort, since it has several restaurants tied to James Beard Award–winning chefs under its roof, such as Thomas Keller and Emeril Lagasse. Other big names in food who recently made their Vegas debut are Mexico’s Enrique Olvera and Daniela Soto-Innes from Cosme in New York City, who teamed up to open Elio at Encore Las Vegas.
Set to open next month is the much anticipated Area15, a 200,000-square-foot shopping, entertainment, and art complex that was shrouded in mystery while under construction (its name a play on Area 51). Some of the confirmed attractions are Meow Wolf, an interactive art experience; Emporium, an arcade with over 100 classic games; and a food hall from veteran chef Todd English.

Looking for a new place to stay? If you haven’t been to Las Vegas in a while, the Monte Carlo is now the Park MGM, with a new adjacent NoMad Las Vegas hotel. Set to open later this year are Virgin Hotels, replacing the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, and the new Downtown Grand Casino near Fremont Street. All of this new development is on top of the major expansion of the convention center, which includes a mile-long underground tunnel being built by Elon Musk, the planned Caesars Forum, and a new stadium for the Raiders.
The Venetian reopened this month, and a news release from the resort said all guests staying at the hotel are provided with a daily amenity kit with face masks, gloves, and sanitizing wipes. Masks are also available for anyone visiting for the day. The hotel has a new “digital key” feature where you can use your cell phone to open the door to your hotel room.
