Holiday Remix Party

The US Grant is one of the grand ole properties in downtown, and stopping by for a cocktail or two during the holidays is a local tradition. For this party, you’ll get holiday-inspired drinks from their world-class bar team, but also food stations like charcuterie, carved prime meats, risotto, and dessert. Local dance academy Ooh La La and Vario Productions will also put on Rockette-inspired performances. The Grant is giving a $10 Uber coupon for all attendees to get home safely.

Salt & Straw Pop-Up
WHEN: December 17–18, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
WHERE: Herb & Wood, 2210 Kettner Blvd., Little Italy
One of the breakout stars of the Portland food scene is innovative ice cream shop, Salt & Straw. And now they’re coming to San Diego in Little Italy in the space formerly occupied by Yogurtland. It’s all about the innovative flavors and quality-ingredients that make up hits like the sea salt with caramel, lavender honey, and strawberry honey balsamic with black pepper. Before they open their permanent storefront, they’ll do this two-day pop-up at Herb & Wood to give the neighborhood a sneak peak.

Cookie Class
WHEN: December 20, 5–7 p.m.
WHERE: Café 21, 802 Fifth Ave., Downtown
Café 21 has proven a big hit in downtown, always packed for weekend brunches and lunches. And chef-owner Leyla Javadov will be teaching a holiday cookie class with her creative, organic style. Each guest will get a complimentary light dinner, Café 21’s sangria, and take home a basket of cookies and the recipes. Cookies she’ll be teaching are Asian Moon with apple-cinnamon filling, Persian Kolompeh with date filling, chocolate chip, fennel cookies, Palmiers, and Heart cookies, a Javadov family recipe with meringue and fruit filling.
