Party Pics: The Gala @ MCASD

The annual event raised around $360,000 to support the museum’s exhibitions and education programs

The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego put a feather in the cap of its recent grand reopening with a reimagined benefit at the newly expanded La Jolla campus September 10. The museum’s long-standing fundraiser, Monte Carlo, has been transformed into The Gala @ MCASD, a Hollywood-themed celebration that raised about $360,000 to support the museum’s exhibitions and education programs. Its 550 guests were treated to al fresco eats, a cocktail reception, and got to be among the first to view the museum’s special exhibition, a retrospective of iconic California artist Alexis Smith. An afterparty with unique activations, live music, and specialty cocktails inspired by the exhibition followed.
