About the Event

Join us for the big finale of our Valentine’s Week celebration as we enjoy a night full of Flamenco, Wine & Art! The night will begin with an intimate candle lit flamenco performance inside the award winning Walter Redondo Fine Art Collection Gallery. Afterwards, you will head next door to Dorothy’s Wine Bar to sit on the patio and enjoy a second performance done fireside and under the stars. There’s no better way to spend your Saturday night than with amazing company, great ambiance, and an extraordinary show!

About the Performers:

Cante: Flamenco singer Pepele Méndez was born in Jerez de La Frontera, Spain, and is part of the Méndez dynasty of singers from the neighborhood of La Plazuela. He learned how to sing flamenco as a child listening to his cousins Paca and Manuela and eventually accompanied his aunt, famous flamenco singer La Paquera, on tour. He has since grown into an incredible traditional artist with a very strong personal voice influenced by his interpretation of traditional styles influenced by Reggae, Latin, Funk, Rock and Jazz.

Toque: Kambiz Pakan is an Iranian flamenco guitarist based in Southern California. An acclaimed ethnomusicologist and recognized Master Flamenco guitarist, he has been studying musical instruments since childhood. Kambiz has traveled extensively to study and perform flamenco, with journeys that have taken him to the USA, France, Portugal, Israel, India, Iran, Turkey, and Spain. Spending several years in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, he immersed himself in its rich flamenco tradition, studying alongside some of flamenco’s most renowned masters.

Dancers: Lisa Riolo, Lisa Beltran, and Oya Dela Osa met in San Diego and quickly formed a bond through their shared love of flamenco. Coming from diverse dance backgrounds, including jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, Latin, and folklórico, they combine their unique strengths and perspectives, driven by a mutual desire to grow as artists. Their collaboration has become a space for creativity and support, where they constantly challenge themselves to learn and evolve their distinct styles into a powerful expression of flamenco. They currently train and perform with Flamenco Sur Dance Company.
