About the Event

You could compile an exhaustive list of genres that Mitchum Yacoub’s music might be categorized in, but the San Diego-based multi-instrumentalist’s sound can best be described with one word–originality. Mitchum layers strong, repetitive grooves with his flair for Afro-Latin percussion alongside vibrant horn lines to create undeniably electric music that doesn’t just move the body, but moves the soul. Mitchum’s diverse sensibilities are a perfect match for Divina Jasson’s eclectic approach to music, allowing the duo to create energetic and infectious music that sits at the intersections of Afrobeat and Cumbia. You can experience their unique sound for yourself when they perform at UC San Diego’s Park & Market on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $25 and can be purchased at parkandmarket.ucsd.edu.
