North City to Host Unveiling of Public Art by Acclaimed Artist Victoria Fu

About the Event

North City in San Marcos is set to unveil Ginkgo, a significant new mural by internationally renowned and San Diego-based artist, Victoria Fu, on September 19 at 4:30pm.

San Diegans are invited to attend and celebrate North County’s growing art scene, meet the artist, and explore North City’s public art program. Representatives from Sea Breeze Properties, curator DVDL, San Marcos Mayor Rebecca Jones, and Victoria Fu will be in attendance to share the inspiration behind the creation of the mural.

Known for her work at the Whitney Museum, Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), and the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD), Fu’s latest project at North City brings museum-quality art into the neighborhood. As a professor at the University of San Diego, Fu’s deep connection to the region makes this mural a meaningful addition to North City’s public art program and North County’s growing cultural landscape.

With this latest work, North City continues to grow into an exciting creative hub, where public art is a big part of the vibe. Just as cities like New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles have used public art to redefine urban spaces, North City is looking to raise the bar with this gallery-worthy mural. It will join North City’s existing lineup of murals and sculptures from local artists and will also echo the region’s proud artistic traditions, standing alongside iconic works found in parks and streetways elsewhere in the county.

After the unveiling, visitors are invited to tour other public art installations at North City and enjoy the neighborhood’s diverse dining options. Discover local favorites like Buona Forchetta, Draft Republic, Wynston’s Ice Cream, Maya’s Cookies, and more.
