For people who get migraines, headaches may feel like just a fact of life. Migraines are common—it’s estimated that 20% of the population gets them—but much of what we’ve been led to believe about the painful condition just isn’t true. For instance, there’s little evidence showing that certain foods or drinks, like chocolate or red wine, trigger migraines. Taking painkillers frequently also isn’t the healthiest course of treatment.
