We heard a rumor that Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto had kicked the tires on the Top of the Cove space in La Jolla, which Duke’s eventually signed up for. Now there’s been a confirmation that he’s been looking at restaurant spaces in San Diego. After the recent Los Angeles Food & Wine Festival, Morimoto drove down to do a little scouting, including the empty restaurant space at Andaz in Downtown (formerly home to Katsuya). Morimoto’s a big fan of golf, and San Diego’s a nice place to have a restaurant so that you can do a lot of that. We’ll let you know if and when he signs.
