No Ordinary Tea and Crumpets

World class pastry chef and local certified Tea Master partner in tea-chocolate pairing.

By Nate Martins

The Park Hyatt Aviara in Carlsbad already has world class Executive Pastry Chef Franck Riffaud. On Sunday, January 20th from 3 to 5, Riffaud is partnering with local Certified Tea Master Chas Kroll. What’s to come of this highbrow union? A handcrafted chocolate and Asian inspired tea pairing followed by a High Tea service. Each chocolate will have a different cacao to match its counterpart: Guayaquil (56%) paired with Oriental Beauty tea (Taiwan), Jivara Lactee (40%) paired with Pu-erh with Chrysanthemum (Hong Kong), to name a couple. After satisfying your sweet tooth, there’s a traditional High Tea service, chock full of English Tea, finger sandwiches, scones and other pastries. Want to go? $38 per person plus tax. Call to make reservations at 760.448.1234 ext. 5056. More info here.
