THOUGHTS ON FOIE GRAS #3

It's a class war.

By Troy Johnson

If foie gras cost 50 cents a pound and was eaten by bargain Ross shoppers, people wouldn’t be quite so angry about it. At $50 per pound, it’s a one-percenter delicacy. Animal rights activists have that going in their favor. If there’s one thing that the rest of us penny-polishers appreciate at this moment in American history, it’s poking holes in the goodie bag of Richie Rich. For some people, being anti-foie is more of a socioeconomic chess move than it is an animal rights act.
