Duke’s may be new to San Diego, but the Hawaii-based restaurant has some of the oldest and most iconic dishes on its La Jolla menu. Their fish tacos, a part of the Duke’s concept since its 1989 debut, is an evolved version that starts with corn tortillas from Encintas’s El Nopalito market. Inside is sautéed fish—a variety of sustainable options ranging from white sea bass to local yellowtail—seasoned with chili, lime, and salt. Then comes a kick of spice from the house-made rajas, followed by thinly shredded cabbage, a dash of salsa verde, and China rose sprouts. The tacos paired with the epic view atop La Jolla Cove? Aloha!
