Wine for a Cause

A Point Loma couple turns their passion for wine into a powerful message

By Kimberly Cunningham

Sarah and Tucker Spear recently debuted Preston Parker wines, named after their two sons, the latter of whom was diagnosed with Williams Syndrome when he was six weeks old. The couple released two blends harvested in certified-sustainable vineyards in Paso Robles: Ambitious, a soft and complex Bordeaux-style wine with notes of white pepper spice, $35; and Brave, a bold Rhône blend with dark fruit and vanilla tones, $30. The Spears plan to work their way through the alphabet, with each new vintage representing a quality they would like to instill in their children. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Williams Syndrome Association, which provides support to those battling the genetic condition. Charitable, eco-chic, and classy, this wine belongs on everyone’s holiday gift list.
