This Wednesday, coffee shops around the country will transform into Luke’s Diner—the iconic watering hole from the hit comedy-drama series Gilmore Girls. The seven season show chronicled the lives and relationships of quick-witted and coffee obsessed mother-daughter team Lorelai and Rory in the quaint, fictional Connecticut town of Stars Hollow.
Hillcrest’s Industrial Grind Coffee joins over 200 cafes around the country in celebrating the 16th anniversary of the airing of the series’ pilot—an episode that appropriately enough starts with Luke reluctantly serving Lorelai a cup of coffee (her sixth that morning).
Eater reports that the pop-up is a promotional event in anticipation of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, a Netflix mini-series set to be released in November. Netflix is also footing the bill for 250 cups of coffee during the event that runs from 7 a.m. to noon. To get a proper taste of Luke’s and other Stars Hollow surprises, it’s recommended to arrive early.
