You’ve made it this far and we’re sure there’s some questions that have come up while reading. No worries, we found the answers to the most commonly asked questions regarding men’s perfume. Any question you can possibly think of is answered below.
A good way to start is by reading reviews on various sites and blogs. You can also ask friends and family for their opinion about a particular fragrance.
The smartest way to find the right fragrance is to try it out and see if it suits you. When you are picking a new fragrance, your friends and family can be your best resource.
Ask them for their thoughts on what smells good and what doesn’t. But don’t forget to try it out for yourself as well – because there is no better way to see if a fragrance is right for you than by smelling it.
Wearing perfume makes you memorable. People will remember you, and start a conversation with you to comment on how amazing you smell.
If you happen to be a bachelor, you can only imagine the amount of women you can attract by just wearing a perfume that compliments you perfectly.
The fragrance of a cologne is the most important factor in determining how well it will smell. The best way to apply men’s cologne is by spraying it on the chest, neck, and wrists.
This is because these are the areas where body heat and sweat combine with the fragrance to create an even stronger scent.
If the scent of your current cologne has lost its power, it may be time to replace it.
This can happen if you have been wearing the same cologne for a long period of time, or if it has been exposed to excessive heat or sunlight.
Eau de toilette is diluted in water, while eau de parfum is not.
Eau de toilette is a fragrance that has been diluted in water. It typically contains between 10% and 20% perfume oil, which makes it less concentrated than pure perfume or eau de parfum.
Eau de parfum, on the other hand, is not diluted with water and usually contains between 15% and 20% perfume oil.
This means that when you wear eau de toilette, you will require more sprays to achieve the same intensity of scent as if you were wearing eau de parfum.
A good perfume should last you as long as you need it to. A bad perfume will barely last 1-2 hours. Sadly, even the most expensive perfumes for men can end up lasting you a good 45 minutes.
Due to that, it’s crucial that you take the time to test out fragrances. This means don’t only test out how well the regime smells, also see how long it lasts.
We highly advise that you secure a few samples of your favorites and see if they last you all day. Test one sample per day. The ones that last until it’s time to take another shower are going to be the ones you should add to your collection immediately.
Perfume can last longer with the help of heat. That’s why applying it to places on your body where heat accumulates is ideal.
Places such as the inner elbows, neck, and wrists give your favorite men’s perfume a fighting chance at staying adhered to your skin.
Spraying perfume on your clothes is a good idea too. It’s also a smart way to judge the half life of your perfume. If by the end of the day, you can still get a nice whiff of the perfume – then you have found a high quality perfume.
Scent profiles are a way of categorizing scents in order to help people find the scent they want. We love our perfumes, colognes, and other scented products.
It’s not unusual for us to have more than one type of scent in our collection. The challenge is remembering which scent we prefer for specific events.
A scent profile can help us remember our favorites by associating a scent with an event or time of year.
There are three main categories of scent profiles:
The top note is the first fragrance that you smell when you apply the perfume.
The middle note is the most noticeable and dominant part of the fragrance.
The base note is what remains after all other notes have dissipated, and it may change over time.
Besides crappy quality, applying perfume incorrectly is the main reason why perfumes fade away. It’s incredibly disappointing to find a scent you have fallen in love with to find that by the afternoon the scent is gone.
Always make sure you are applying your chosen perfume to the correct areas. Don’t overapply either. Slow and steady always wins the race with men’s perfume. You can always re-apply if you need to later in the day.
Expensive perfumes are worth the amount of money that you’ll be spending on them. That high price tag comes with the reassurance that you’re getting something that’s long-lasting, and effective at making you feel confident.
You can buy a cheap perfume, however it’s not worth it in the long run. The perfumes at places like Five and Below or Dollar Tree are meant to be a bargain. That’s pretty much all extremely cheap perfume is – a bottle of fragrant water that smells good.
Fortunately, we only mentioned the best perfumes on the market. Even the ones on the more affordable side last for hours on end.
There are many different types of scents that are available for you to choose from. You can find them in stores, at the mall, in your home, and online. The only thing that you need to do is make sure that you know what type of scent you want before you start looking for it.
The first step is to figure out what type of scent is your favorite. Do not pick a scent just because it smells good or makes someone else happy. You need to pick a scent that will make you happy and will be something that you enjoy smelling every day.
Once you have figured out the type of scent that is your favorite, then it will be easier for you to pick out similar scents.
The best way to find exactly what you need is to read reviews. You should also consider the occasion, your skin type, and any allergies you might have.
We also recommend that you try a fragrance sampler set. This is a set of perfume samples that will give you an idea of what you like and dislike without having to invest in a full bottle of perfume.
The best men’s perfumes are ones that work for you and your needs. The right one will make you feel confident and secure in your own skin. It will be a scent that people can quickly identify with you and know that it is yours. You should definitely consider how long you want the scent to last on your skin, plus how much money you want to spend on it.
Finding what type of scent works best with your body chemistry and personality should be a fun experience. We hope that you found some new favorites among these perfumes and that our article helped you make a decision.

ArtsConnect brings those experiences into view, helping residents discover what they can see, hear and create at UC San Diego while experiencing the campus in a new way.
Ask most people what UC San Diego is known for, and the arts may not be the first answer. Yet this fall, San Diegans can watch Ghostbusters with a live orchestra, try their hand at glassmaking and wander among more than 20 works of public art woven throughout the university’s La Jolla campus.
ArtsConnect brings those experiences into view, helping residents discover what they can see, hear and create at UC San Diego while experiencing the campus in a new way.

“The arts are at the heart of UC San Diego’s student-centered mission and vision,” says Alysson Satterlund, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Campus Life. “Whether creating, participating in, or experiencing performances, the arts are essential to a healthy and truly fun Triton student experience.”
That invitation often begins where the arts intersect with other fields.
“Some of the most innovative work and discovery happen where disciplines don’t usually share a stage,” says Cristina Della Coletta, Dean of the UC San Diego School of Arts and Humanities. “So through our unique intersection of the arts with science, technology, and medicine, we are improving lives, physically and emotionally.
Take The Inaudible Ocean, a collaboration between Department of Music Professor Lei Liang and Scripps Institution of Oceanography Assistant Project Scientist Josh Jones. Over eight years, the pair recorded earthquakes, ship noise, whale songs and other sounds in remote underwater locations. They transformed those recordings into a live music experience that allowed audiences to hear the ocean in an entirely new way. The work premiered on campus in May and continues to evolve.
The arts also connect the campus to the global art world and diverse perspectives. Chief Campus Curator Jessica Berlanga Taylor recently curated the Mexico Pavilion at the 61st Venice Biennale, featuring RojoNegro, the collective formed by Noé Martínez and María Sosa. The collective will unveil a compelling new permanent installation for UC San Diego’s celebrated Stuart Collection later this fall.

ArtPower offers another easy entry point, bringing touring performers to venues including the outdoor Epstein Family Amphitheater and the intimate Loft. The nearly three dozen performances featured through its 2026-2027 season span music, dance, film, theater and conversation.
Among the fall highlights is Ghostbusters in Concert on Sept. 25, pairing the beloved 1984 film with a live performance of Elmer Bernstein’s score. Tickets start at $35, and the amphitheater is located next to the UC San Diego Blue Line trolley station.
“Every member of our community should have access to world-class art, so we work hard to remove the barriers that stand in the way,” says Colleen Kollar Smith, executive artistic director of the Campus Performances and Events Office. “That means affordable ticket prices, and performances, voices and experiences where people see themselves reflected on stage and know they belong.”
The arts at UC San Diego are not only something to watch. The Craft Center offers public classes and workshops in ceramics, jewelry, woodworking, culinary arts and even surfboard shaping. At the new Glass Center, beginners and experienced makers can explore glassmaking through classes, demonstrations and studio experiences.
Whether you want to attend a performance, make something yourself or spend an afternoon exploring public art, there is an easy way in. And the invitation extends well beyond students and alumni.
Kollar Smith says it best: “Visit, participate, spectate or create. You’re invited, and we hope you’ll connect with us soon.”

Laika Nur, MD, takes her love of volleyball from the court to the clinic as team physician for the San Diego Mojo
Growing up, Laika Nur, MD, Scripps Clinic sports medicine specialist, loved watching beach volleyball when the Association of Volleyball Professionals tour came to her hometown of Chicago. A talented volleyball player herself, she remembers sitting in the stands all day, and once, even got a couple autographs. Years later, Dr. Nur was attending a professional event focused on women’s sports, and the discussion turned to a new professional women’s volleyball league. The general manager and coaching staff for San Diego’s team, the Mojo, happened to be in attendance, and Dr. Nur took the opportunity to ask them if they needed a team doctor. Flash forward to the Mojo’s inaugural 2024 season, when Dr. Nur officially became the team physician. Click here to read more about Dr. Nur and how she incorporates lessons she learned on the court into her practice.

How local orthopedic specialists are pioneering the future of foot and ankle care
Your feet and ankles probably aren’t something you give much thought to—until something goes wrong. Orthopedic surgeons at Scripps Clinic are on the leading edge of foot and ankle reconstruction, treating patients with sports injuries, deformities, traumatic injuries and other conditions. That includes repairing torn Achilles tendons with a minimally invasive procedure that shrinks the incision site to less than a centimeter, and performing advanced ankle replacement on some patients with ankle arthritis. A new program guides new moms through high-risk pregnancy and into the “fourth trimester”
Mai Vue was just 34 weeks pregnant when she delivered her baby. Her pregnancy had been complicated, and she’d had a recent second trimester pregnancy loss, which led to her receiving specialized care from Sean Daneshmand, MD, a Scripps Clinic perinatologist who oversees high-risk pregnancies. Dr. Daneshmand and his team took care of Mai during her pregnancy, through the birth of her healthy baby girl and beyond. Mai was part of a program Scripps launched to provide support to new moms in the weeks and months after delivery. The postpartum program, known as Scripps Health’s Fourth Trimester Continuum of Care, provides care for women with high-risk pregnancies to optimize their health after childbirth and reduce the risk of complications in future pregnancies. Scripps Clinic’s Mohs surgery center is one of the most sophisticated in the country.
It’s estimated that one in five people in the U.S. will develop skin cancer at some point in their lives. When you factor in living in a sun-soaked city like San Diego and the outdoorsy lifestyle that comes with it, that figure can jump to as high as one in three, which makes early detection and intervention all the more important. Dermatologists at Bighorn Mohs and Dermatology Center are using innovative imaging methods and advanced surgical techniques to diagnose and treat skin cancer. For certain cancers in sensitive spots, like the face, dermatologists perform Mohs surgery, removing skin tissue layer by layer until reaching healthy, cancer-free tissue. They also use a process called immunohistochemistry to view tissue samples taken during Mohs surgery in far greater detail than previous methods. Read more about how Scripps is advancing skin cancer care here.

Scripps Cancer Center helps an endurance athlete overcome his greatest challenge yet and get back in the race
When endurance athlete Isaac Sanchez learned he had cancer, he felt blindsided. He was healthy, surfed often and was training for an Ironman triathlon. But he had to put that on hold to undergo treatment. His physicians at Scripps Cancer Center developed a plan to treat the cancer in his tonsil and lymph nodes that included six-and-a-half weeks of near-daily radiation and weekly chemotherapy. He also worked with a Scripps Cancer Center dietitian to enhance his nutrition to promote strength and healing. Today, Isaac’s back to doing what he loves. Read more of his story here.
