Healing a Broken Heart

Broken heart syndrome is more common around the holidays

Stress and grief can contribute to heart problems, including a lesser known, but not uncommon, condition called takotsubo cardiomyopathy. Also known as broken heart syndrome, shows up in response to a severe emotional triggers and has been found to be more common during the holiday season. When it’s happening, broken heart syndrome can feel—and look—a lot like a heart attack and can cause chest pain and shortness of breath.
