Preparing for Perimenopause 

Five tips to stay well as hormone levels change

For most women, menopause happens in their late 40s or early 50s. However, a woman’s body begins preparing for menopause several years before her menstrual periods stop. This time, known as perimenopause, is marked by changes in estrogen and progesterone levels. These hormones can also affect many aspects of her physical and emotional health. Perimenopause symptoms vary widely and can range from mild to severe. Click here for five tips to manage symptoms.  

Maintaining a healthy diet is one way to help manage perimenopause symptoms, but it can be tricky to accurately track calories and nutrients. Unclear serving sizes and hidden ingredients can derail even the best efforts. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is making it easier to understand what’s in your meals by improving labels for prepared foods and beverages. Read more about the changes here.
