This month’s five-day GI Film Festival is celebrating its third year with award-winning films that capture the military experience through themes of resilience and loss from diverse perspectives.
The 2 Sides Project (pictured), which kicks off the fest at Balboa Park’s Museum of Photographic Arts, follows the story of six American sons and daughters who lost their fathers in the Vietnam War, and their first formal meeting with Vietnamese families who’ve experienced the same loss.
The 17 films will be screened across the county from Carlsbad to Mission Valley, with additional events like a movie night on the USS Midway, panel discussions, and director appearances.
