Cue the funnel cake and gravity-defying rides—the San Diego County Fair returns for another 24 days of fun on June 7. This year’s “Fab Fair” theme pays tribute to the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ British Invasion, with two exhibits showcasing a LIFE photographer’s images of the rock ’n’ roll quartet. Classic rides like the Ferris wheel and coaster join the new O.M.G., which rises to 65 feet while rotating nonstop to create a head-spinning, high-speed free-fall effect. For a new take on carnival fare, look out for the Krispy Kreme Triple Decker Cheeseburger, aka three beef patties with cheese sandwiched between two donuts. Maybe save that one for after the rides.
