As winter goes out with a whimper, and spring readies for its time in the sun, spend the weekend canvassing the city’s creative offerings, special events and sports teams. Admire art exhibitions galore, including new shows at Best Practice, Bread & Salt, and the Athenaeum Art Center, all located at the same Logan Heights address. Enjoy festival fun at the springtime edition of CRSSD and the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival—just don’t forget to wear green. Plus, soccer fans have a full week ahead with chances to attend San Diego FC’s next Concacaf Champions Cup match, Wave FC’s home opener and the San Diego Sockers’ clash against the Kansas City Comets.

Food & Drink Events in San Diego This Weekend

Susan G. Komen San Diego Impact Luncheon 

March 13 

Dine for a good cause this Friday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Eve during Susan G. Komen San Diego’s annual Impact Luncheon, centered on breast cancer awareness and ongoing research. The event will open with a welcome reception, allowing guests to network, check out a silent auction, snap photo ops and grab their welcome beverage while listening to live acoustic music. This will be followed by a lunch and panel discussion, where attendees will hear from both medical professionals and breast cancer survivors. Individual tickets are $150 for the Impact Luncheon; attendees are encouraged to dress in business chic and show off some pink flair.

The Art of Beer at Ballast Point Little Italy

March 14

The first-ever edition of The Art of Beer will be a dual art show and intimate tasting presentation at Ballast Point Little Italy. This Saturday from noon to 4 p.m., craft beer enthusiasts (21+ of course) are invited to sample limited-release tastings from a lineup of 10 local breweries and learn what goes into making a great beer, including an appealing label design. General admission is $33, while VIP tickets are $107 and come with exclusive tastings and curated food pairings from noon to 1 p.m., as well as $10 tap room certificates from each participating brewery.

Pucks & Pints

March 14

Hockey and charity harmoniously intertwine every March for Pucks & Pints, with the 2026 fundraiser slated for this Saturday. The all-day affair begins at 12:30 p.m. with the puck drop for the Brewers Charity Game, followed by a 21+ craft beer festival with BBQ, live music and raffles across the street at Bay City Brewing from 2-5 p.m., then it’s back over to Pechanga Arena to see San Diego Gulls take on the Colorado Eagles at 6 p.m. Tickets are $70 for Pucks & Pints. This year’s event proceeds will go towards Resque Ranch, Emilio Nares Foundation, Boys & Girls Club of Greater San Diego, San Diego Brewers Guild and the San Diego Chill.

Concerts & Festivals in San Diego This Weekend

Cherry Blossom Festival at Japanese Friendship Garden & Museum San Diego

March 12-15

Take part in the time-honored tradition of Japanese flower viewing (hanami) during the Japanese Friendship Garden & Museum’s annual Cherry Blossom Festival. This Thursday-Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., garden visitors can walk the cherry blossom grove and admire the serene pink treasures of spring. Attendees can also check out all-day live performances, food and merchant vendors, a beer and sake garden and new features like a wall of lanterns and community artwork. Ticket options include single-day festival admission ($20) and expedited entry tickets ($25).

St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival

March 14

Enjoy live entertainment, libations, vendors, games and big helpings of Irish nosh during the 44th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival this Saturday. The Irish Congress of Southern California will present this year’s St. Paddy’s Day celebration with the unifying theme of “Irish Here, There and Everywhere.” The festival will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Balboa Park while the parade will begin rolling through town at 10:30 a.m. Festival entry is $12 for 21+ attendees and free for those under 21 and with military ID; beer tasting tickets are also available for $10.

The Gershwins on Broadway with Rob Fisher at Jacobs Music Center

March 14 

With Ira as the writer, and George as the composer, the brothers Gershwin carved out a legacy as Broadway icons and decorated contributors to the Great American Songbook. This Saturday at 7:30 p.m., conductor and master of musical revival Rob Fisher will lead a romantic tribute to the Gershwins, covering their most essential love songs. Fisher’s ensemble will include singers Patti Murin and Colin Donnell, guitarist Kevin Ramessar, bassist Mark Vanderpoel and percussionist Erik Charlston. Tickets range from $39 to $94 for this concert at Jacobs Music Center.

CRSSD Fest Spring ‘26

March 14 & 15

Feel the heat and the beats at Waterfront Park during the return of CRSSD Fest. This Saturday from noon to 11 p.m. and noon to 10 p.m. on Sunday, EDM devotees can catch sets from headliners like house superstar Dom Dolla, Belgian techno wizard Amelie Lens and Swedish DJ Eric Prydz—under his Cirez D moniker—across three stages, each offering a different sound and accompanying vibe. Plus, those looking for an intimate set or a nightclub outing can check out a lineup of After Dark parties Friday-Sunday in Hillcrest, Little Italy and Midway. A final batch of Saturday-only tickets ($195) and weekend passes ($379) are still available for purchase online.

Jane Lynch & Kate Flannery: The Trouble With Angels at Balboa Theatre

March 15

The concept of The Trouble With Angels comes from a combined interest in harmonies, ballads and comedic mischief, particularly owing to Ida Lupino’s 1966 film of the same name. As with their cabaret shows of years past, Jane Lynch and Kate Flannery will showcase a range of nostalgic song-and-dance numbers with a vaudevillian sense of showmanship. Plus, the two long will pay tribute to their favorite tunes of the ‘50s and ‘60s, including a rollicking version of “Far From the Home I Love” from Fiddler on the Roof. Tickets start at $51 for this concert.

Theater & Art Exhibits in San Diego This Weekend

Mother/Child at The Photographer’s Eye

Through April 4

Motherly love is at the forefront of The Photographer’s Eye Gallery’s Women’s History Month exhibition Mother/Child, featuring the images of Debe Arlook, Christina McFaul and Michele Zousmer. This exhibition will spotlight Arlook’s one, one thousand depictions of her sister and nephew’s special bond, McFaul’s sons’ monochrome exploration of nature in Sanctuary in the Wild and Zousmer’s Mis[s]Understood look at motherhood among Irish Travellers. Mother/Child will have a free opening reception this Saturday from 5-7 p.m.

Ruthless! The Musical at Point Loma Playhouse Pop-Up 

March 13-29

For its first adult-oriented show of the calendar year, the Point Loma Playhouse is adapting Ruthless! The Musical, Joel Paley’s campy satire of Broadway and bloodthirsty stardom. In this production, aspiring child actress Tina yearns for the spotlight and will stop at nothing to land the lead role in her school play, setting off a chain of reveals and egotistical power plays. Tickets are $40 for Ruthless! The Musical, with performances this Friday (7:30 p.m.), Saturday (3 & 7:30 p.m.) and Sunday (3 p.m.) at the Playhouse’s Hillcrest performance space.

New Logan Heights exhibitions 

Opening March 14 

This Saturday, a quartet of new exhibitions will open with free receptions from 5-8 p.m. at 1955 Julian Avenue, the home of Best Practice, Bread & Salt and the Athenaeum Art Center. Best Practice’s A Unifying Force (through April 18) will highlight 12 artists from Revision San Diego, a local nonprofit that uplifts artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities. INSITE’s Erratic Fields, the second chapter of the group’s ecological art series The Sedimentary Effect, and Tatiana Ortiz-Rubio’s Noncompliant, a visual statement on Crip Time and expelling ableist norms, will both open at Bread & Salt. And at the Athenaeum, Annie Alarcón’s new exhibition Forms of Devotion (through May 7) will examine tension and emotional resonance through ceramic pieces inspired by ancient Greek perfume bottles.

Cross Currents at Distinction Gallery

March 14 – April 4

For Distinction Gallery’s newest group show, Cross Currents, curated by Thumbprint Gallery—the first of five guest curation partnerships planned between the two galleries—28 artists will bridge global perspectives through painting, drawing and mixed media works. Cross Currents will open this Saturday from 6-10 p.m. with a free reception featuring live music, drinks for purchase from LastSpot and several of the participating artists.

More Fun Things to Do in San Diego This Weekend

San Diego FC vs. Deportivo Toluca F.C. at Snapdragon Stadium

March 11

San Diego FC’s Concacaf Champions Cup debut rolls on with a Round of 16 clash against Deportivo Toluca F.C., the reigning Liga MX titleholders. Toluca have previously won the tournament in 1968 and 2003, and their current squad, captained by Mexican National Team midfielder Alexis Vega, represent their best chance at Champions Cup glory in over a decade. This Wednesday at 8:30 p.m., SDFC will host Toluca for the first leg, with the second leg to be played a week from Wednesday at the Estadio Nemesio Díez. Tickets start at $39 for this match.

Camp Classics at Rooftop Cinema Club Little Italy

March 12 & 13

Night owls can catch late-night screenings of two exceedingly different camp classics this week at Rooftop Cinema Club’s new location above the Porto Vista Hotel. First on Thursday at 9:45 p.m., in honor of National Girl Scout Day, RCC will present the 1989 cult comedy Troop Beverly Hills. The following night, horror fans are invited to a slasher showing of Friday the 13th at 10 p.m. Ticket options for both screenings include a $30 loveseat and hot chocolate deal for two, and a $40 option that also comes with a souvenir blanket.

San Diego Wave FC vs. Houston Dash at Snapdragon Stadium

March 14

New year, new stars and a new eye-popping jersey—San Diego Wave FC are back for year five in the NWSL. Though 2026 will be the first season without franchise mainstay Kailen Sheridan between the posts, the Wave have bolstered their attack through the acquisitions of Gabi Portilho and Ludmila, with a move for San Diego Surf legend Catarina Macario also reportedly in the works. Before the Wave’s home opener kicks off Saturday at 5:45 p.m., the team’s supporters are invited to enjoy pre-match festivities outside Snapdragon Stadium and claim a rally towel giveaway item while supplies last. Tickets start at $17 for this match.

San Diego Sockers vs. Kansas City Comets at Frontwave Arena 

March 15

Of the five regular season matches that remain for the first-place San Diego Sockers, four will come against the mid-table Kansas City Comets. After playing each other Saturday night in Missouri’s Cable Dahmer Arena, the two sides will catch a flight to SoCal for the second act of a cross-country weekend doubleheader. During Sunday’s match (4 p.m.) at Frontwave Arena, the team will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Night, featuring cultural performances and Sockers lucha libre masks for the first 1K fans in attendance. Tickets start at $18 for this match.
