Chef Onyinyechukwu Akpa invites culinary adventurers to a meal inspired by Nigerian cuisine this Thursday at ICON. The San Diego native’s supper club series, Dinner with Strangers, offers a chance for guests to converse and share in cultural immersion through food. The menu for Thursday’s communal “Roots” meal will include five courses, with dishes such as red stew salmon crudo, vegan efo riro (spinach stew), chin chin bread pudding, and the night’s signature cocktail: the Zobo Hurricane. Sounds For Palestine at Che Cafe

Che Cafe will host Sounds for Palestine, a multi-genre benefit concert for all ages, this Friday at 5:30 p.m. The show will feature six hours of live performance across two stages, including the brash sounds of Maybe It’s Best and the quotable bars and flows of ZAYALLCAPS. Half of all profits from the show will be donated to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund. Tickets are $15 for presale and $20 at the door, but nobody will be turned away due to lack of funds.
