Nearly 130 guests celebrated the 95th anniversary of United Way of San Diego County at Coasterra restaurant on Harbor Island. Two community leaders were recognized for their volunteer efforts: Maureen “Mo” King received the sixth annual James F. Mulvaney Community Leadership Award, and the Volunteer of the Year Award was given to Jonathan E. Vance. United Way received a proclamation from the City of San Diego, co-presented by city council members Chris Cate and Lorie Zapf, and also received a county proclamation from Supervisor Greg Cox’s office. The evening featured a full sheet birthday cake created by Grove Pastry Shop with a photo of the skyline in edible icing, and a collaborative painting curated by artist Katy Helen Stockinger that will be hung in the organization’s Kearny Mesa office.
