The Mingei International Museum’s Art of the Americas pulls from the treasure trove of its own collections. You’ll see ancient figurines, jars, ear plugs, and textiles from Mayan civilizations and other indigenous communities.

Oceanside Museum of Art’s unDocumenta, curated by Mesa College Gallery Director Alessandra Moctezuma, focuses on art from the San Diego-Tijuana region that covers biculturalism, migration, labor issues, and human rights through the eyes of Mexican and Latino artists from both cities.

Icons of Latin American culture are on display at the San Diego Museum of Art’s Modern Masters from Latin America: The Pérez Simón Collection, the first-ever display of this group of works. It includes work by the greats (Frida and Diego, of course), alongside a visceral view of modern colonial history in Argentina, Cuba, Mexico, and other regions.

The Museum of Photographic Arts is looking across the border in Point/Counterpoint: Contemporary Mexican Photography 2000–2015. Nineteen Mexican artists explore the diversity of modern-day Mexico against its traditional history through pictures.
