San Diego Magazine‘s in-office music series Off the Record is back! This month, we brought in Ocean Beach surf-blues rockers Band of Gringos to jam out with us for a day, with a little lift from Bebemos Tequila.
The trio—made up of Cody Sherman (guitar & vocals), Spence Noble (drums), and Kasey Dring (bass)—bring their own varied musical influences together that coalesce into a sound that’s eclectic and authentic. They also brought in local percussionist and aerospace engineer Kofi Andoh for the sesh.
What we love about them is their ability to fuse raw, blues-inflected rock with exploratory psychedelia, all delivered with an earnest stage presence rooted in their OB home base. Two of the members of BoG are also starring in a local sitcom called End of the 8 created by their friend group.
