Off the Record: Helena Holleran

Published

San Diego Magazine‘s Off The Record music series returns with Helena Holleran taking the mic. The San Diego-based singer-songwriter and musician has shaped a sound that weaves jazz, soul, R&B, Afrobeats and Brazilian rhythms into one deeply personal voice.

She was also recently included in our September 2025 issue where we featured California bands and artists to watch. Coming highly recommended by Lou Niles (91X FM), co-host of Loudspeaker & San Diego Music Foundation Executive Board Member, we knew we had to have her in-office for a performance.

We love Helena’s introspective lyrics and jazzy melodies that give us Lianne La Havas vibes mixed with a little bit of Sade as she gets into those mellow, more soulful and international rhythms. Her debut full-band album, Rococo Palace (2024), reflects seven years of artistic growth and showcases her versatility and unique voice.

Keep an eye on her website or social channels to stay updated on her upcoming gigs. Click the link in bio to listen to her full set and let us know who you think we should have on the next show.
