Jamul Casino Resort, under the technology leadership of Tara Sparks, is set to redefine guest experiences in the hospitality industry with a groundbreaking upgrade to a 10GB bandwidth provided by Cox Business. This initiative promises to deliver seamless, high-resiliency network connectivity across the integrated boutique Casino Resort property, ensuring guests enjoy uninterrupted service from luxury hotel suites to the bustling casino floor.

Sparks, celebrated for her unconventional approach to solving tomorrow’s challenges today, merges audacious creativity with strategic precision. Her ability to pivot between strategic ideation and execution accelerates organizational innovation and fosters a culture of fearless experimentation.

“Tara has been instrumental in moving away from outdated infrastructure offerings to dynamically allocate bandwidth based on real-time demand,” stated Charles E. Daniel, Jr., Vice President of Information Technology for Jamul Casino.

This upgrade is hailed as a quantum leap for Jamul Casino resort in connectivity, promising frictionless transitions between hotel rooms, luxury suites, and elegant hotel and gaming spaces without latency. The result will be enhanced guest experiences with DigiValet iPad tablets and Alexa in-room voice-controlled commands.

Sparks emphasizes, “This isn’t just about faster Wi-Fi; it’s about future-proofing Jamul Casino Resort’s hospitality and gaming as a gateway to an immersive, connective technology experience.”

Sparks worked closely with Cox Business Sales Executive Lauro “JC” Teopengco III and Sales Engineer Clark Fryrear. As casinos and hotels race to elevate, one thing is clear: Jamul Casino Resort and Cox Business have dealt with the hospitality and gaming industry a winning hand.

Staying on Top of Stress

Chronic stress can lead to long-term health problems

In a world of endless emails, breaking news alerts, family responsibilities, work obligations and more, stress is understandable. Feeling stressed sometimes is a normal part of life—with an emphasis on sometimes. With Mother’s Day and Father’s Day around the corner, it’s a good time for women and men to check in and evaluate if their stress has become not-so-normal. Of course, every person is different and responds to stress differently, but increased irritability, fatigue, brain fog, mood swings, trouble sleeping and stomach issues are some of the most common signs of chronic stress. And when the body is in a state of chronic stress for a prolonged period of time, the impact of that stress only expands. Click here to learn more about the effects of chronic and how they differ for men and women.

What is Toro Nagashi? (Means “floating lanterns”).

Toro Nagashi is a Buddhist ceremony where lanterns are floated to commemorate those who have passed away. In Japan, this custom typically takes place during the Bon Festival. At JFGM, we celebrate the Toro Nagashi Festival each year, offering guests the opportunity to honor a loved one by floating a lantern in the garden’s koi pond.

Starting at 10AM on Friday, August 8th, a limited number of lanterns will be available for purchase at the festival in the lower garden’s Inamori Pavilion. Lantern presale is available at https://www.niwa.org/toro-nagashi-ceremonies. Guests will be able to write a dedication on their lantern before floating the lanterns in the lower garden stream during designated ceremony times (12PM, 2PM and 4PM).

Toro Nagashi Evening Ceremony

Guests will be able to float their candle-lit lanterns (LED candles) in the lower garden stream during the evening ceremony on Friday, August 8th. Tickets to the evening ceremony includes admission to the daytime Toro Nagashi Festival, 1 lantern, evening floating and ceremony, and a dinner bento box. Evening ceremony tickets can be purchased at Toro Nagashi Night Ceremony — Japanese Friendship Garden

More information about this event can be found at Toro Nagashi Festival — Japanese Friendship Garden

Jon Rhinerson, Owner Jon Rhinerson wants his restaurants to push limits while still feeling accessible to all. At Échale, Rhinerson’s first San Diego venture, he and his team went from food truck to a brick-and-mortar location in Encinitas and can’t wait to share the eatery’s next act in a new space.
