Live Arts Fest

In 2024, Nick McGhee was awarded Best Choreography at the Emerging Choreographers Showcase and Awards, a program presented by San Diego Dance Theater (SDDT). Through this recognition, SDDT supports the selected artist in the production and presentation of a full evening-length work as part of Live Arts Fest.


Live Arts Fest has been reimagined to feature a single highlighted performance each quarter, offering audiences a more focused and immersive experience throughout the year. Supporting emerging and established artists is a core priority at SDDT. By providing free rehearsal and performance space, along with technical and administrative support, SDDT empowers artists to focus fully on their creative practice rather than the complexities of producing their own work.
A favorite among San Diego audiences, Nick McGhee has performed with Malashock Dance, Litvak Dance, San Diego Dance Theater, and numerous local artists. This Live Arts Fest features McGhee in collaboration with Odessa Uno, Jacqueline Schweighart, Miguel Galvan, Micah Parra, and Aisha Reddick, with live music by Trenton Birch (aka Otari Cloud).
Common Room brings together a collective of friends and artists from diverse backgrounds to uncover a shared, universal language through movement. Rooted in trust, collaboration, and deep listening, this contemporary dance work emerges from genuine connection and collective creation, telling the story of where we come from, where we are, and where we are going.
