A handful of locals to compete on The Price is Right, Family Feud and The Titan Games
NBC

By Victoria Gonzalez

A handful of local residents will be making appearances on national TV, including daytime and primetime game shows, as well as a golf tournament.

Hood Family on Family Feud

San Diego’s own Hood family competed on the popular game show a few months ago, but viewers can catch them a second time around on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at 4 p.m. and then again at 9 p.m. on KUSI News.

Nika Sedghi and Matt Cable on The Titan Games with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson

In this new physical competition show, competitors will participate in challenges that are intended to test the limits of their mental and emotional strengths, in addition to their physical capabilities.

Nika Sedghi from Carlsbad, who works as a gas turbine engineer, is a former SDSU water polo captain and the daughter of Iranian immigrants. In college she developed supraventricular tachycardia, a heart condition that causes one of her heart’s valves to malfunction and make her heart rate increase. So on doctor’s orders she stopped playing and quickly gained 50 pounds. After graduation, Sedghi decided she had to get back into shape and started powerlifting. Now, after publishing her first book, Outsmarting Overeating with the Basics of Nutrition, Sedghi wants to educate people about health and nutrition and teach people that their bodies are capable of more than they expect.

Matt Cable from San Diego is a staff sergeant with the Air National Guard. After a brush with death when he was diagnosed with leukemia and put into a medically induced coma, he never gave up on himself. Even after doctors told him he should stop working out, Cable kept going to the gym, despite not being able to walk normally and lift his usual 400 lbs. Months of treatment and exercise later, he finally beat cancer and will be deployed to a new mission later in 2019.

Audiences can catch both of them Thursday, January 3 at 8 p.m. on NBC.

Andre Wilson on The Price is Right

Wilson will appear in the classic game show trying to guess the cost of everyday items Thursday, January 10 at 10 a.m. on CBS.
