Get those glass slippers ready—Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella steps onto the San Diego Civic Theatre stage this month. The time-honored rags to riches folktale—complete with fairy godmother, evil stepsisters, and masquerade ball—originally debuted as a TV musical starring Julie Andrews in 1957.
Two remakes followed before it hit Broadway in 2013. Now a Tony Award winner, kept current with contemporary twists and including original songs “In My Own Little Corner” and “Impossible/It’s Possible,” the production returns to San Diego about as briefly as a pumpkin can become a carriage. See it for one weekend only, December 1–3.
