The 32nd Annual R*I*T*Z Rendezvous in the Zoo is being held on June 20. “Party Animals” is the 2015 party theme and will benefit the Penquin Beach exhibit and breeding center, part of the Conrad Prebys Africa Rocks complex. San Diego Zoo Global and R*I*T* dollars will work to help save this species from extinction.

Junior Achievement of San Diego students representing Canyon Crest Academy High have been selected as one of 15 finalist teams to compete at the JA National Student Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C. The students will travel to D.C to compete with teen entrepreneurs from across the United States. The teen company is a part of the JA Company Program, in which high school students start and run a real business enterprise under the guidance of a volunteer from the local business community.
A Touch of the Tropics, an afternoon party and fundraiser for City Ballet, was held on June 14 at the estate of Dr. Alicia Steiner in Rancho Santa Fe. The event featured gourmet food by the Wild Thyme Company and desserts by Michele Coulon. All funds raised will support the programs of the City Ballet including the Outreach Programs which are designed to make ballet accessible with free and low-cost concerts throughout the county.

Tux n’ Tennies summer bash on the bay, presented by Ashford Summer Pops, San Diego Symphony and Sycuan Casino, will feature a tribute to The Beach Boys. The event is being held on June 27 at the Embarcadero Marina Park South. Event chairs are San Diego Magazine’s Jan and Jim Fitzpatrick. The proceeds support the San Diego Symphony’s Music Education and Outreach programs.
Mission Federal Credit Union has committed funding to help The New Children’s Museum expand their Title One School Program. Mission Fed has committed $5,000 to help fund the Museum’s Title One School Program and $6,000 in support which goes toward expanding the Museum’s participation in the 31st Annual Mission Federal ArtWalk. “Our new partnership makes it possible for us to continue to bring engaging art-making experiences to those that might not otherwise have the opportunity,” said the Museum’s CEO and Executive Director Julianne Markow.

Alzheimer’s Association Art4Alz held a reception on June 7 at the Robert Cromeans Salon at the Harbor Club. The event was to kick off the Art4Alz which will be held on Aug. 24 at the Robert Cromeans Salon. The fundraiser is to celebrate the creative mind to support Alzheimer’s research in San Diego.
On May 29,The Control Group teamed up with I Love A Clean San Diego for the 3rd annual beach clean-up day on the beach covering Pacific and Mission Beach. With the help of Amplified Ale Works and Firestone Walker Brewery, 100 volunteers participated in picking up 340 lbs. of trash in addition to engaging the local community to help carry on the efforts.
