La Jolla resident Chantal Gordon, age 30, is co-founder of new blog The Horticult, where she and her husband, Ryan Benoit, are doing for gardening what others did for knitting—making it supercool and chic.
Background: Born in Brooklyn and raised in D.C., her first job out of college was as an assistant at Vogue in L.A. She’s also written for NBC Universal, Racked.com, DailyCandy, Nylon, and Zagat.
Street Cred: While at Vogue, Chantal learned how “to run full speed in 5-inch heels.”
Style: “Classic but with experimental, international twists.”
Fashion Philosophy: “Always stay curious. Remain open to new silhouettes, moods, designers. Also—this I learned from the Alexander McQueen exhibit at the Met a few years ago—you only look as good as you do from the side. Profile is everything.”
