Entomophobes be warned. The Nat will be brimming with creepy crawly critters when its new exhibit Insects Face to Face debuts November 9.

On view through November 2020, the show collects macroscopic photographs of the arthropods—honeybees, beetles, flies, cockroaches, moths, and even the thistledown velvet ant (shown here)—all taken by researchers at the U.S. Geological Survey Native Bee Inventory and Monitoring Lab.

Despite the name, this “ant” is actually a species of wasp, whose wingless females have such fabulous hair to warn predators of their incredibly painful sting. But don’t worry about one sneaking up on you—they also make an adorable squeaking noise before they strike.
