Meatball and pop shop Soda & Swine now serves brunch. The menu is lean (just 10 options in total), but all-inclusive. There’s an omlette with asparagus, goat cheese, and bernaise sauce, a meatball slider topped off with an egg, and can’t go wrong options like a Greek yogurt and granola parfait, three egg plate, or biscuits and gravy. It’s all good. Even so, I’m going to advocate reading all the way to the bottom of the menu, where you’ll find a trio of German-style oven baked pancakes ($8 each).
The light, airy ‘cakes are less floury and more eggy than a traditional hotcake, with a crisp edge and a tender middle. Executive Chef Jason McLeod says they’re like a hybrid between a souffle and a Yorkshire pudding: essentially, a fat crepe. Get ’em sweet (topped with lemon, sugar, and maple syrup, or apples, cinnamon, pecans, and caramel) or savory (with salty cubes of bacon, broccoli, and brie).

Caffeinated beverages are crafted with beans and leaves from Coffee & Tea Collective, and there’s fresh-pressed OJ, but get a maple sugar brûléed grapefruit ($3) instead. The pink segments of double-sweet citrus are so laden with juice, they quench just as well as grapefruit in beverage form.
