The San Diego Symphony Notables raised $75,000 at its annual Wine & Wears event for music education in local underserved schools. Guests gathered at the Westgate Hotel downtown for a sumptuous evening of good wine, gourmet bites, live music, and a bonanza of auction items, including jewelry, wine, trips, and experiences.

The San Diego Center for Children’s Successful Transitions Program

The San Diego Center for Children received $12,500 from Bank of America for its Successful Transitions Program. The award will benefit youth ages 15 to 21, struggling with mental health issues and emotional and behavioral disorders during a tough, transitional age. The San Diego Center for Children is San Diego’s oldest nonprofit focusing on kids, and provides education and therapeutic care for more than 1,000 children and families.

McAlister Institute’s Annual 5K Walk for Sobriety

On July 8, McAlister Institute held its 6th Annual 5K Walk for Sobriety, raising more than $93,000. The funds will go toward the Institute’s 26 programs, which help individuals (11,000 per year!) and their families impacted by addiction. The services include substance abuse treatment, mental health counseling, and vocational training.
