Last November, more than 70 runners tied the knot or renewed their vows during a “Run-Thru Wedding” in Las Vegas. The vows took place at the 3-mile mark of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon and Half Marathon.
Yes, running with someone you love has become a thing. Signing up for a race is a commitment in itself—on February 14, why not share it with the person you’re committed to?
For an easy local race, there’s the Jump Start Your Heart 5K Run/Walk in Mission Bay Park, benefiting the Children’s Heart Foundation. For a longer distance, the Hearts Half Marathon at Sunbeam Lake in El Centro will support the Special Olympics of the Imperial Valley. To really get your hearts pumping, climb 2,850 feet during the Winter Trail Run 21K in Cleveland National Forest. And, last but not least, Coronado’s Valentine’s Day 10K in Tidelands Park takes place the following day, February 15.
If the dual burst of adrenaline and the thrill of accomplishing something together isn’t enough, you can always tell your partner your muscles are sore and book a couples massage.
