Loaded Movement Training

It’s not a snake and it’s not a sports car—the latest “viper” on the market is actually spelled ViPR, and it stands for “Vitality. Performance. Reconditioning.” Three words that describe a new concept in fitness and sports conditioning called Loaded Movement Training. Using a 4- to 26-kg rubber cylinder—and muscles and coordination you may not even know you have—a ViPR workout combines “task-oriented movement patterning with resistance training” through full-body exercises, from burpees and mountain climbers to the ViPR Halo and the super-high-intensity ViPR Cylinder Lift.

“ViPR is all about strengthening movement, not just muscle,” says Derrick Price, a ViPR master trainer and fitness coach at Function First in Mission Hills. “The key to the workout is variability. You can do one exercise 20 different ways just by changing the grip on the ViPR,” he adds. “We say we can do 10,000 exercises, but in reality, we can probably come up with a million.” Leaving your body a million times more sore than it was when you started.
