Shopping for workout apparel can feel as daunting as bikini shopping. That’s why one San Diego family—three sisters and their mom, all athletic—founded FABB Activewear last year. “I’m a size small; I should not be feeling fat when I try on workout clothes,” recalls cofounder Catherine Clishem after one disappointing session in a Lululemon dressing room. She and her sisters had also begun feeling frustrated with megabrands charging a high price without the quality and fit to back it up. They set out to design a line of flattering pieces, which includes items made with compression fabrics as well as flowy top options.
Try the bestseller Ballet Bombshell Tank; the new Revelation Bra, which looks like a regular bra made with “sport properties” (sweating okay); or That’s My Shorty slimming running shorts that are longer in the back for coverage. They also feature a built-in cell phone pocket, plus two separate pockets for keys and credit cards. Pictured above is the Core Sister Sports Bra, $58, made with a fabric that dries faster than cotton and has mesh in the back for ventilation.
