These handmade chandeliers are the brainchild of local artist Karissa Bordin. The native of upstate New York traded in the harsh winters for Southern California’s eternal summers, and this beachy lifestyle is reflected in her work. Bordin, 29, selects and polishes every shell by hand. Each chandelier is custom-made to complement the shape and size of the frame. “I started making custom shell jewelry, and transforming that idea into chandeliers was a natural progression,” she says. “I could not find anything on the market like the ones I make, so I decided to create more—each in its own theme.” The above style retails for $1,450 and is available at Form & Function. 414 South Cedros Avenue, Solana Beach
